Recycled aluminum foam with powder coat, maquette
Evoking the cratered surfaces of the Moon, Studio Furthermore transforms recycled aluminum into sculptural works that appear both geological and extraterrestrial, recasting familiar materials as something at once earthly and cosmic.
Inspired by theories that the Moon and Earth share a common origin, the works invite us to see our planet as part of a larger material continuum. Their metallic surfaces and rock-like formations blur the perceived boundary between Earth and space, suggesting that the materials beneath our feet and those that compose distant celestial bodies are fundamentally connected.
Rather than looking outward as an escape from our planet, Studio Furthermore’s work considers Earth’s place within the cosmos, inviting us to see our home as part of an unfolding cosmic story. As humanity considers possibilities beyond our planet, these works remind us that the resources we share are finite and precious. The farther we look, the more profoundly we understand our responsibilities here: to care for Earth, for one another, and for the larger systems of which we are a part.
